FOPNC59 - - About Us

Greater Cumberland Area Lodge #59 opened in 1990. Our organization has supported the community in sponsoring and assisting with programs such as Shop with a Cop, K-Mart's Race Against Drug, handing out Halloween candy at Cross Creek Mall, and providing Dinner Baskets for those in need during Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also sponsor cleanup on a section of Ramsey Street in the area of Methodist College. Our membership includes Fayetteville City Police, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Hope Mills Police Department, Spring Lake Police Department, NC Highway Patrol, Fort Bragg Military Police, Pope Air Force Security Police......... We also reach out to the surrounding counties that have no Lodges or representation. We meet the first Monday of each month at 310 Green St, (Door off the Back Parking Lot) at 7 PM...(See you there?), come on out and see what's happening this month.

Are you eligible for membership?

Click on our membership link and see if you are eligible.  Membership is not automatic...it's a privilege.  Don't wait until you are in trouble or under investigation to apply because we can't help you then...

For Forms and Communications click on the Communications and Documents Page. Copies of the BlueNote and FOP Journal can be found there, as well as the Renewal/Application Form for the Lodge.

Legal Defense

Under other links there is a link for Legal Defense.  This is probably one of the most important benefits we offer our active membership. For the last two years this lodge has spent the most legal defense money in the state.  What does legal defense do for you. Should you be in a shooting or critical incident while working our goal is to ensure you are covered by a competent attorney.  We will automatically call for an attorney for you in this type of incident when we know of them. The second type of incident are those that are not an immediate emergency.  Something happened or someone accused you of something while working and the department has suspended, possibly fired you.  For this type of incident the member must request assistance. The link for Legal Defense is the place to start. Your request must be type and forwarded to the State Lodge through the Secretary, State Trustee or President. Your agreement is with the State Lodge and your local lodge is only a conduit. Should you just need someone to stand by you in a tough moment you can contact any of your Lodge Officers...we are here for you.

Constitution & By Laws

The Fraternal Order of Police operates under a Constitution and By Laws at three levels. National, State and Local.  Links are listed under other links for the National and State Lodges. There is also a link for Compliance/Constitution and By Laws since your local secretary serves as the Chairman for the State Compliance and Constitution & By Laws Committee.
