The following information was provided by letter in the Spring of 2007.
Brothers and Sisters of the Lodge
I am writing this correspondence to ensure that we are taking care of our membership. We have a vast tradition of law enforcement taking care of law enforcement and to ensure this tradition continues each of the local lodges have Constitutions and By Laws. If we fail to keep up to date with the State and National Lodges as changes are made, then we are doing a disservice to members we serve.
1) I am asking that the following Lodges to review their Constitutions and By Laws for sufficiency. If your Constitution and By Laws haven't been reviewed and updated with in the last five years I am asking that you do it at this time. If they are updated or changed, forward a copy to this committee along with a cover sheet explaining changes for review and submission to the State Lodge for approval.
Lodge 1, Lodge 5, Lodge 6, Lodge 10, Lodge 14, Lodge 19, Lodge 24, Lodge 46, Lodge 51, Lodge 64, Lodge 67, and Lodge 70
2) I am asking that the following Lodges to review their Constitutions and By Laws for sufficiency. While a copy is on file with the State Office they have no date. If your Constitution and By Laws haven't been reviewed and updated with in the last five years I am asking that you do it at this time. If they are updated or changed, forward a copy to this committee along with a cover sheet explaining changes for review and submission to the State Lodge for approval.
Lodge 8, Lodge 23, Lodge 26, Lodge 33, Lodge 47, Lodge 50, Lodge 53, Lodge 54, Lodge 55, Lodge 65, Lodge 69, Lodge 71 and Lodge 72.
3) I am attaching a generic copy of a Constitution and By Laws for the following Lodges since we no copy on file.
Lodge 73, Lodge 79, Lodge 80, Lodge 83, Lodge 84, Lodge 85, Lodge 86 and any other lodge not mentioned that doesn't have one on file.
Utilize the generic constitution and by laws as a guide and adopt/write one to fit your organization. Once completed mail or e-mail it to this committee for review and submission to the State Lodge for approval.
This year the Compliance Committee will be reviewing Lodge Constitutions as well. Lodges found not in compliance with the State Constitution and By Law will be listed as a Lodge not in good standing. This will impact on your lodge membership. Let's continue our commitment to our Brothers and Sister in Law Enforcement, ensuring we take care of them.
